must surely be photographing photographers as they direct the EIF director who is sweeping the stage floor at the Festival Theatre! So it would seem the madness has officially begun. Things stepped up a gear today at the Hub with the first festival photocall taking place with Jonathan Mills on the set of Two Widows - timed to land on newspaper pages the day of our
official opening (tomorrow!!).
There was also a press conference later in the day as members of TR Warszawa arrived in Scotland and met a band of merry media men and women keen to get the inside info on Dybbuk and 4.48 Psychosis. The Usher Hall was a hive of activity (aren't euphemisms great?!) as opening night rehearsals took place, finishing touches were added to the venue, art works installed and a BBC film crew recorded the goings on. EIF Marketing and Communications Director Jackie Westbrook was interviewed for Radio Berlin, Jonathan Mills, Hannah Gordon and Giselle Allen (the latter two performing in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny) were intervewied for the BBC at the Usher Hall where it will all be kicking off tomorrow night and in amongst all that Jonathan Mills also found the time to speak to Forth Radio, the BBC World Service and German radio station Diezeit. Phew!
Yesterday saw the full cast of Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny coming together for a rehearsal. Festival Insider spoke to narrator Hannah Gordon and conductor HK Gruber just before rehearsals began in Glasgow. Click here to listen to the interviews.
