Photographers Revved up After Mortal Engine

The first full rehearsal of Mortal Engine got underway today at The Edinburgh Playhouse as Australian dance company Chunky Move practiced the dance and light extravaganza for the first time on Scottish soil. Around ten photographers and two film crews attended the rehearsals. With the motion sensors and trip wires activating the special light and laser effects, the ground breaking show had provoked a lot of curiosity. At one point photographers who had clicked onto the fact that front centre of the stalls was the best vantage point for pictures, were jostling for space in what can only be described as a polite pile up. Suffice to say, afterwards no one was surprised at the hype generated by this production and many left vowing to buy some of the remaining tickets. In a rare gesture, the assembled crew, staff and press burst into unexpected applause at the end of rehearsals. Especially impressive was the scene where lasers are used to simulate a tunnel. Below are some of the picture from today's rehearsals. The show opens tonight and runs until Tuesday 19 August. Click here to buy tickets.
